Karine Plantadit is a dancer, a choreographer, a Tony award winner, an activist and the co-founder of Voices Matters, a web series mixing dances and interviews to promote peace. She was born in France and raised in Cameroon. She moved to Cannes, France, at age 14 to study dance. She subsequently moved to New York City to study dance with Alvin Ailey. Karine Plantadit has been a Soka Gakkai Nichiren Buddhist for 23 years; a practice dedicated to Peace in the world through the realization of each person‘s happiness. Ms Plantadit received a Tony Award, Astaire Award, and Drama League Award nominations for her role in Come Fly Away and the Astaire Award of Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show for After Midnight.
Her television credits include "Sex and the City", "Smash","The Affair" and a guest starring appearance on "So You Think You Can Dance". Her film credits include Josephine Baker in Frida, Stay, Chicago, Across The Universe and Black Nativity. Her commitment to bring Beauty in unexpected places initiates her various artistic encounters using Dance as a tool to share. Karine centered on respect for the dignity of life creates opportunities to dialogue about Peace and build bridges with various artists around the globe creating new and innovative truthful creative adventures using film music, words and dance.
She is the founder of Nail Your Auditions dedicated to support all young artists to shine during the audition process. She is a judge and a teacher for YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX in America and overseas.
